Echo Park Fun!

A while back I delved into my Echo Park stash and made a few layouts and other fun projects.

A birthday gift for my mom using a bath gift basket and EP's Springtime.

A fun layout with my girls playing in our old backyard using Splash.

Some fun pictures from our garden using For the Record.

And last but not least, a layout of my cute little guy at the park using Summer Days.

MWM Topaz #4

Kristy Lee's fabulous MWM sketch:

My take on it:

I decided to scrap Jethro's first big ride. Since he has lost 30 pounds and able to ride his bike more comfortably, he is becoming a rock star on his bike. His goal was to ride his bike 1000 miles this summer, which he accomplished before his first century ride. He is doing a fantastic job and I am really proud of him for his drive and enthusiasm for riding.  The kids love watching him ride his back and love when he takes them on rides in the trailer. This layout is in honor of him.

Another MWM and this one done by fabulous guest sketcher Kristy MacKeen

Here is my take on it:

For this mojo, I used Echo Park's Splash collection.  This is a perfect collection for summer and water pictures. They embellishments are fantastic and just perfect for so many things.  The letters I used are Thickers from American Crafts.  I also using Stickles for the glittery effect and Glossy Accents for the sheen on the tags.  The ribbon comes from My Mind's Eye.

And here is my take on it (picture to be filled in after my little girl arrives):

I used Authentique's new line, Blissful.  This new company makes fantastic lines with luxurious, thick paper and double-sided embellishments. Love it!

Scrapbooksteals.com Mid-Week Mojos Topaz #1

My favorite place to buy scrapbook supplies is a deal of the day website called Scrapbooksteals.com.  They have such fantastic produts usually at 50% or more off retail.  Not only are their products great, but their Facebook community is fantastic and they have a blog.

Every Wednesday on their blog they do something called Mid-week Mojo.  Kristy Lee, or a guest sketcher, provides a sketch and then showcases that days "steal" (featured product) using the sketch.  They are always such fabulous sketches and I find them so much fun!  They do a weekly contest using the sketch where you create your own take on the sketch, whether followed closely or losely, and post a picture of your creation on either their Facebook page or a personal blog. You then post a link to your picture on that weeks blog post. That enters you into a weekly drawing for a scrappy prize. At the end of each set of 10 sketches, they do a big drawing for all those who completed all 10.  Fun, huh?

I have been doing these Mid-week Mojo's (MWM) for over a year and have loved expanding and greatly improving my scrappy skills.  If you don't already, you should join in on this scrappy fun!

Here is the first sketch from the current group, Topaz, and my take on it:

Nothing is more therapeutic at the end of a long rough day than descending my stairs and taking the walk to my "therapy" room. I love to pull out my chair and create to my hearts content. There is nothing more relaxing than cutting paper, sprinkling glitter, or applying rub ins. Yes, it is an addicting and possibly expensive hobby, but as I tell my husband, "it is cheaper than therapy."
